The Woolmoot pattern creation interface

An overview of the creation page before you get started: discover what the sidebar, tabs and each element of the interface are for.

Sidebar

Located on the left, the sidebar brings together the key information about your pattern and the main actions. On mobile, it appears at the top of the page rather than on the side, but its content remains the same. From top to bottom, here is what you will find.

Language flag: Flag illustrating the original writing language of the pattern. Handy for spotting at a glance which language the pattern was written in.
Pattern title: Dynamically displays the title of your pattern as you entered it in the Information tab. It updates in real time as soon as you change it.
Button Save pattern: Lets you manually save your pattern at any time. During an auto-save, the button text changes and a green dot appears: it confirms that your pattern has been saved, then disappears after a few moments. An orange dot means you have recent changes, different from the last save, that have not yet been saved.
Button Preview pattern: Lets you get an initial preview of your PDF, only in the original writing language. This preview is entirely free and unlimited: it does not use any of your translation or PDF generations. Its sole purpose is to show you what your PDF looks like before any final generation. You cannot download the preview PDF.
Incomplete profile alert: Important notice indicating that your profile is missing information (shop name, contact email, social network link, website link). This information is optional but contributes to a professional and complete appearance of your PDFs and your shop. As soon as your profile is complete, this block disappears entirely from the sidebar.
Minimum information required:: Block summarising the minimum information required to generate a PDF preview. These are the basic elements every pattern should contain: a useful reminder so you don't forget anything. Once all these requirements are met in the pattern, this block is no longer displayed.
Tree: Tree view automatically generated from your pattern content. Each element you add updates this structure. Opening or closing a section here applies the same action in the editor, and vice versa. Clicking on an element automatically switches the tab to the editor (unless it is already active), then scrolls the page to the selected element. Each element is illustrated with its icon for easy identification. Rows display their row number, followed by the total stitch count in square brackets [ ].

Tabs and content

Tabs let you navigate easily between the different parts of the creation page. Each tab has its own content, detailed in the following steps of this guide.

Builder: This is the space where you create the core of your pattern: rows, images, notes and sections. This part is detailed in step 4.
Informations: Tab dedicated to the information that appears in the PDF and defines your pattern: its original writing language, its name, its cover image and the various materials used (hook size, yarns, tools). This part is detailed in step 3.
Design: Here, you configure all the style and design options for your PDF: preset templates and customisation settings (colours, typography, structure, background, pages, headings, images, notes, footer). This part is detailed in step 5.
Translations: View all the stitches, abbreviations and terms used in your pattern, along with their translation in every language. You can also manually add translations for your custom stitches here. This part is detailed in step 6.
Settings: Brings together all the pattern-specific settings: counting rules, adding custom stitches, usage rights. This part is detailed in step 3.

Sidebar
